Nowadays, it is said that modern technology, with the way it has automated things, has made the attention span of people much shorter. Why is that so? Recent experiments involving mice, however, suggest that it may literally do so.

According to the Yale researcher’s report which was published in Scientific Reports, fetal exposure to some devices with radiation especially Cellphones appears linked to signs and symptoms in the offspring which has a resemble of a characteristics of adhd. the ADHD also known as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in human children.

The Characteristics of Adhd

ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a one of the most common problems of children, sometimes it can continue until adulthood. Here are the characteristics of adhd, the symptoms of this disorder usually include difficulty in staying focused of they can’t pay attention on the current situation.

In the study, the researchers exposed pregnant mice to the radiation from a cellphone that was turned on and switch to silenced and muted. Also the Cellphone was placed at the top of the cage for the whole 19 days of its pregnancy to determine of there is resemble of a characteristics of adhd. Another group of mice were also kept in the same condition but with a phone that was turned off. They found out that the mice that were exposed to radiation, results to be more a hyperactive mice. The mice had increased in anxiety and their memory was also reduced. this is one of the characteristics of adhd patients.

Senior researcher Dr. Hugh Taylor, a chief of division of the reproductive endocrinology and infertility in the department of gynecology, obstetrics  and reproductive sciences, Dr. Hugh Taylor was also a professor.

Even though this is the first study of its kind that show a cause-and-effect relationship between pregnancy and cellphone radiation on mice, they still often fail results to have similar findings in humans.

The findings therefore cannot be directly extrapolated to women. What is does indicate however is that cellphone exposure might have huge effects on the baby during pregnancy because of its radiation. We all know that radiation is bad for our body because it can lead us to death if we were exposed to larger dose of radiation. Dr. Taylor further noted that it does not matter whether the pregnant mom is talking on the phone or not. Even with just having it with her for as long as it is switched on for a long period of time, it will emit radiation which can damage or stop the brain development of the baby. “I think we need to be careful about radio-frequency exposures in pregnant women. The radiation may have consequences for the developing brain,” he said.
